Boathouse Restaurant
Located at the foothill of a hidden natural landscape in suburban New Jersey, this exceptional setting is the home of The Boathouse, a publicly owned restaurant facility that draws it’s inspiration from a United States National Park theme. The great history of similar structures in the County’s Park system, now most gone, are reflected in the murals, materials and character throughout the new 20,000 square foot lodge-like structure. With soaring roof shapes, raw timber and rough cut stone materials, the building was conceived as a fun family friendly mini-retreat. The extensive outdoor seating and viewing areas off the building’s lakeside perimeter connect a network of trails and bridges to a wildlife refuge and the South Mountain Arena Recreation Complex.
