The Giraffe Exhibit is the first phase of the introduction of the African Continent into an expanding zoo campus. With exaggerated scale and roof shapes, the Giraffe House is the firm’s interpretation of a modern but eclectic African Savanna giraffe barn with weathered exterior materials. The barn features stalls, squeeze and an “arena” in a larger, open area for ‘off-exhibit’ stretch in addition to Antelope and Ostrich areas. Features include varied floor material for animal enrichment, natural sunlight/ ventilation, radiant heated floors and elevated keeper access at a perimeter mezzanine. FPA Consulting Engineers.
