Newark Housing Authority
The work for the Newark Housing Authority consists of housing development design projects for low income and assisted families throughout the city. Located on a wide variety of both isolated, scattered sites and large urban blocks, the new residential development’s low vertical scale is a purposeful alternative to failed urban high rise apartment blocks that were mass produced in the 1960s. Ranging from townhouse-style attached individual homes to four story, street level retail neighborhood centers, the designs have been selected by HUD and the Newark Housing Authority and its planning consultant teams nine times over the past ten years to be constructed on various issued RFPs for varied parcels of property. The firm has designed and overseen construction on more than 1,500 housing units for NHA including the Department of Modernization townhouse ‘prototype’ and the Hope VI mixed-use style dwelling units at Cottage Place.
