Oak Brook
An example of inner city re-development of public housing, Oak Brook Square represents the office’s efforts toward a ‘new look’ of assisted public housing. Working closely with NJ Mortgage and Finance Agency, HUD and the Housing Authority of the City of Newark, the design brings together a new family friendly neighborhood identity complete with familiar roof shapes, porches and façade treatments. The 100 unit low-scale townhouse style development is organized around 18 clusters of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units with accessible facilities and facilities for the hearing and visually impaired. This development on more than two city blocks includes a community center, pocket park play areas and incorporates a state of the art solar powered site lighting system, new high-performance material features and an Energy Star certification award.
